A DNS zone file is a plain text file that describes a DNS zone. BIND is a file format widely adopted and used by DNS server software. StackPath allows BIND-formatted DNS zone files to be uploaded, making the migration of DNS records into StackPath simple.
Many DNS hosting services can provide a way to export DNS records in BIND format, whether it’s through an export tool in the portal, or by contacting their support assist with this.
Importing A DNS Zone Bind File
- Log in to your StackPath account
- Navigate to DNS > Website Domain
- Select Import Zone
- Drag and drop the .txt file containing the BIND formatted DNS zone file, or click “Choose a file” to browse for the file.
