Overview
The IP Address Firewall is your first line of protection to block or allow specific IPs or IP ranges. More robust rules can be created to sanction IP Addresses by using the Edge Rules editor. For more information, see our WAF Custom Rule Editor article.
These types of rules are free for customers using all three versions of WAF packages.
Allow or Block an IP Address
- In the StackPath Control Portal, in the left-side navigation menu, click Sites.
- Locate and select the desired site.
- This action will refresh the portal.
- In the left-side navigation menu, click Firewall.
- To allow or block an IP address or IP address range, in Allowed IPs or Block IPs, click the corresponding Add IP/IP Range.
- Enter an IP address in the first field.
- To add an IP address range, enter the first address and then the last address in the next field.
- Note: You cannot enter a subnet.
- (Optional) Enter a brief description, and then click Save.
This rule will display on both the Firewall page, as well as in the EdgeRules page, specifically under the Custom Rules section. In Custom Rules, the rule will display as an if / then condition.
Update or Delete an IP Rule
The Firewall section will only allow you to add, edit, or delete IP rules. IP rules can be temporarily enabled and disabled in the EdgeRules section.
Add, Edit, or Delete an IP Rule
- In the StackPath Control Portal, in the left-side navigation menu, click Sites.
- Locate and select the desired site.
- This action will refresh the portal.
- In the left-side navigation menu, click Firewall.
- Locate the desired rule.
- Under Action, click the corresponding ellipses, then click Edit or Delete. Make your changes, then confirm and save them.
Enable or Disable an IP Rule
- In the StackPath Control Portal, in the left-side navigation menu, click Sites.
- Locate and select the desired site.
- This action will refresh the portal.
- In the left-side navigation menu, click EdgeRules.
- Locate the desired rule.
- Toggle the slider next to the rule to the On or Off position.
